Sony on PS3 - We have to think of shareholders not customers

Wow... Just wow... I am left speechless with this one...

Why No PS3 Holiday Price Cut? Sony Running A Business, Thinking of Shareholders

"Well the pressure comes from the consumers obviously and so therefore there's always pressure on price, but you know we have a business to run, and we have to make sure we're doing the right thing for the shareholders as well... At the moment there's a marketplace for PS3 and I think for this particular Christmas, with the kind of quality of games we're seeing coming out this Christmas, I don't think the price of the console is going to be an issue at all."

Well... I always thought normal business sense says you should think of customers, but of course, Sony is special. (This started my ranting, BTW) With the economy in the state it is, I doubt Sony will be beating even the Xbox this christmas... They seem to have totally given up now...

In other news, I just updated my PS3 to firmware 2.50. I also got my first trophy and if you see my portable ID, you can ... oh wait you cant... forget it.

maybe the guys at (ph)ony believe that all the recently laid off people + the ones who got a tax refund (US only) will be spending their free time with a PS3 .... ?!!

NOT!

I think they still think they don't have any competition - either that or they smoking some ultra fine stuff!

It seems more like they are reeling from the shock of the realization that they are not invincible. Also, having made some really bad decisions (price via blu-ray, loss of exclusives etc) they have lost confidence in their own brand - so much so that they seem incapable of doing what it takes to make sure the PS3 will succeed...

Sony typically isn't one to leave a headless chicken be. They may be slow to react, but they aren't totally blind. Apparently, they seem to be think - fix Japan and the rest of the world will fall in line - as it (ps3) seems to be doing better their against the Xbox.

nice. so you got the iphone w/o the phone (aka ipod 2nd gen)! :)

what's your outlook on the dsi/fat/lite? planning to get just the dsi or all of 'em?

any why can't you add in a gadget for people to throw questions at you, instead of having to comment? just a thought.

And cheaper too - iPod Touch 8GB + Nokia 5800 (8 GB) cost less than iPhone 8 GB

DSi - No GBA slot, No homebrew - Denied
Lite - Nice, brighter screen, but smaller - Not for my hands
Phat - Already own one...

I dont get the throw questions part - but you could create an iPhone app to go to Yahoo answers (not sure of the usefulness tho)

cool!

incidentally, I would highly recommend getting a set of noise-reduction earphones (not headphones) - creative will do. Great for the bass effect amongst other ear popping schenanigans (speaking of which - there is Mike Schenanigan on facebook. Any wagers on if he's a front for a spider or some other "bot-ness"?

My point was that we seem to be having a disc that is akin to a puzzle, with fragments peppered amongst the various comments of our posts.

We'd be half raving mad - if a third-person did a thread-sweep. o_0
